About

Hello! My name is Silver—an artist, if you will. You’ll probably find me somewhere sipping my coffee, rolling a cigarette, listening to music, and observing everything around me.

My journey began many years ago when I was still in school, sitting at the same desk as my best friend. During class, we would talk, laugh, write in our notebooks, and doodle on paper, creating small sketches and drawings. Panagiotis usually drew and showed me his work. That’s how I got started too.

I went to the neighborhood bookstore, bought my first 2B and 4B pencils and a sketchpad for two euros, went home, turned on the computer, put on some YouTube, and made my first drawing. Remember? Back when we could watch YouTube videos without ten consecutive ads, back when Braf was teaching us about metal and folk music…

One thing led to another, and in 2017, I bought my first canvases. Along with them, I got six bottles of paint and a stand as a gift. And that’s when I found my joy. A bit of sketching, a bit of painting—my experiments never stopped. Wherever I went, I always had my pencils and sketchpad with me. I was always drawing something. At home, I experimented with acrylics and canvases. From small to large ones, trying one thing after another. This paint doesn’t sit well, this piece turned out weird, now let’s try new brushes—and on it went.

When it comes to painting, I use acrylics—that’s what I started with and got used to. The way I can spread colors on the canvas gives me an indescribable satisfaction. So, I began combining abstract art with other styles, genres, patterns, and colors. While I primarily paint with primary colors, I’ll mix a couple of shades if I feel something is missing. Style-wise, yes, okay, impressionism plays a big role, but don’t take it the wrong way if I don’t strictly follow the abstract-impressionism mix. My influences are many—from artists like Van Gogh to Richter and Pollock—the list goes on.

I create acrylic paintings on canvas and drawings on paper. My main focus is eyes—almost every painting has at least one. Could it be because of the evil eye belief we grew up with in Greece? Quite possibly. After all, how many times have we heard, “Be careful not to get jinxed!”?

And my inspiration? Where do I even begin? The bitter coffee on cold winter mornings that warms my throat. My person picking up the guitar and writing a new song. The playlist I put on Spotify with artists I’m just now discovering. The little squirrel carrying yet another acorn to hide. The clouds that look a different color today. My home, my warmth, my comfort, and a messy kitchen.

Everything inspires me (okay, I won’t include art block—that feels unnecessary). But to put it correctly—you get the point. My creations are a reflection of how I perceive the world and the society we live in. Through them, I want to allow viewers to create their own interpretations, their own meanings. That’s why some of my works have no titles at all.

And how do I want to share all this? Right here with you, on my page, on Instagram, with the artworks I post and the things I share. I want my art to inspire you. To challenge you.
